چکیده
We report true duplication of the vas deferens found at routine inguinal hernia repair. This rarity is described in the context of the embryologic model for other vas abnormalities.

A Case of Duplicated Vas Deferens Found Incidentally during Varicocelectomy
Duplication of the vas deferens is a very rare congenital anomaly in which two vasa deferentia coexist within the spermatic cord. Duplication of the vas deferens can be found during herniorrhaphy, vasectomy, and varicocelectomy performed on the spermatic cord or around the spermatic cord. However, it is estimated that the incidence of duplication of the vas deferens is under-reported and under-...
متن کاملIsolated unilateral duplication of vas deferens, a surgical enigma: a case report and review of the literature
BACKGROUND Duplication of vas deferens is a very rare congenital anomaly with only a few cases reported in the literature. Injury to vas deferens is a recognized complication during hernia surgery and the possibilities of injury may increase with lack of awareness of this anomaly. CASE REPORT A-31-year old gentleman with unilateral duplication of vas deferens that was diagnosed during right s...
متن کاملDuplicate Vas Deferens Encountered during Inguinal Hernia Repair: A Case Report and Literature Review
Duplication of the vas deferens is a rare anomaly, defined as the presence of two distinct vasa deferentia within one spermatic cord, with only 28 cases reported worldwide since 1959. We report the case of a 63-year-old man with a duplicate vas deferens, presenting with abdominal pain from bowel obstruction secondary to incarcerated inguinal hernia. Spermatic cord dissection during hernioplasty...
متن کاملUnilateral duplication of vas deferens: a cadaveric case report
Duplication of vas deferens is a rare congenital anomaly. All previously reported cases of this rare anomaly were identified during procedures such as orchiepexy, inguinal hernia repair, vasectomy, varicocoelectomy, and radical prostatectomy. Here, we report a case of unilateral duplicated vas deferens noted in an adult cadaver during regular dissection for medical students. The right spermatic...
متن کاملDetection of cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene rearrangements enriches the mutation spectrum in congenital bilateral absence of the vas deferens and impacts on genetic counselling.
BACKGROUND Mutations in the cystic fibrosis (CF) transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene have been widely detected in infertile men with congenital bilateral absence of the vas deferens (CBAVD). Despite extensive analysis of the CFTR gene using varied screening methods, a number of cases remain unsolved and could be attributable to the presence of large gene rearrangements, as recently ...
